Car Diagnostics – Lehi Utah

According to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), every vehicle made after 1996 is equipped with an “On-Board Diagnostics System” (OBD II). This is a system that was designed to further ensure your safety and performs diagnostics tests on your car while it runs, so that you know when something is wrong before it properly brakes.

For example, you might have seen your ‘Check Engine’ light start to blink into life. This is because the OBD II has run a routine, automated system to check your car to see if something is amiss – and it has seen that it has. It’s a marvellous innovation that keeps many drivers and passengers safe today.

So, what’s the process that goes on with car diagnostics at your local mobile car mechanic?

The Car Diagnostics Checklist

Have you checked with your local car dealer on the warranty of your OBD II system? You might want to make sure that it’s covered, just in case a problem occurs. Most vehicles are covered for up to 8 years, or up to 80,000 miles – whichever comes first.

  • Has your ‘Check Engine’ or ‘Service Engine Soon’ light started flashing? If it has, don’t even hesitate – take it to the shop at your soonest availability! Trust us, you don’t want to be caught on the wrong end of an improperly working vehicle.
  • Every vehicle needs to have an annual emission test. We advise that you do this early. That way, if the test finds anything awry, you’ll have enough time to get it fixed before your registration or warranty expires!

A lot of people tend to mistrust the warning light since they think that the car feels like it’s running just fine. Things can look or feel fine on the shallow, surface area – but you could be one wrong turn away from a huge disaster! Trust in your car diagnostics system and take good care of it, and it will take good care of you in return!

What are the possible reasons that my “Check Engine” light lit up?

Your ‘Check Engine’ light is like a shining beacon that tells you your friendly, neighborhood car diagnostics system has detected a problem with your engine. It’s warning you in order to protect you from any harm these problems may cause.

There are many possibilities as to why this is so, which is why it’s advisable for you to get your engine checked as soon as your car tells you to do so! While not completely exhaustive, here are some of the most common reasons as to why your ‘check engine’ light might be flashing.
